2013 Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association Continuing Legal Education Financial Hardship Policy
The MIPLA president may, at his/her discretion, reduce or waive the registration fee for any MIPLA member or non-member who desires to attend an Association seminar, but for whom the cost would be a financial hardship. Requests shall be made via the Application for CLE Grant and submitted with the seminar registration form on or before the listed due date. Financial aid shall be capped at $105.00 per attorney per fiscal year (June 1 to May 31).

The determination of whether a member or non-member is eligible for a reduced or waived fee will be made on a case by case basis based upon professional relevance, financial need and the space available for the seminar. All requests will be kept confidential.*

Approved registration fee waivers will include the cost of refreshments, if provided to registrants.

If a member or non-member is found to be eligible for a reduced fee, he or she shall be responsible for paying the balance of the registration fee prior to admission into the seminar. [Policy]

*Except for disclosure to CLE committee chair or MIPLA officers involved in the processing the application and the decision to grant or deny request.

CLE Credits in Other States
MIPLA monthly meeting may be eligible for CLE credit in other states.  If you are an active member of another state that requires CLE, come to the monthly MIPLA meetings and bring your registration number for the state for which you are seeking credit!  The MIPLA CLE Committee will apply for accreditation with the state for you.

Procedures at MIPLA Meetings
For all MIPLA members – please note that the attendance record is a procedure that will be taking place at every meeting.  This procedure is mandatory in many of the states in which we have and will be seeking CLE credit.  Thanks for your cooperation.
